The Hotel Prinz Eugen is located in the immediate vicinity of the famous Belvedere Palace in a traditional Embassy district of Vienna, opposite the South Railway Station (Suedbahnhof) with the adjoining Air Terminal. With the excellent traffic connections to the hotel, one can easily reach the city center in 5 minutes by Underground U1 (Suedtirolerplatz station), or by Tram D, opposite the hotel, or you may walk (approx. 15 min) through the extensive gardens of Belvedere Palace.

The discounted prices (offered for participants of the CSM/KSS'2005 workshop, if booking is made through IIASA) are € 61,- or € 92 (for a single or a double room, respectively) for one night, including breakfast and taxes.

Reasonably priced hotels may be difficult to arrange at a later date. Therefore we have made a block booking in the Hotel Prinz Eugen. Participants who would like to stay in this hotel should complete the final registration form not later than June 30, 2005 (we may not be able to help you in arranging your accommodation later).

There is also a limited number of IIASA's Guest rooms available for participants who prefer to stay in Laxenburg. The prices for rooms are 21€ and 18€ (for a single room in the Schloss Restaurant and the GP building, respectively).

Participants who prefer to make own arrangements for accommodation are encouraged to do this well in advance.

Workshop bus

The workshop bus will be available for the following transfers:

On each day of the workshop at 8:15 promptly from the workshop hotel to IIASA. Should you miss the bus, please use the public transportation to Laxenburg (there is a bus stop close to the hotel at the Suedtirolerplatz).
On the first day of the workshop (after the last session) from IIASA to the Heuriger and from the Heuriger (at about 21:30) to the workshop hotel.
On the second and on the third workshop day from IIASA (after the last session) to the workshop hotel.
After the last session from IIASA to the airport.

All the workshop participants are encouraged to use this free transportation.

Local transportation

Vienna has an efficient public local transportation system. Here is some basic information and advice on how to reach the workshop hotel.

Tickets for public transportation can be purchased from ticket machines on the busses and trams, or in underground stations, and at the tobacconists. One can purchase various types of tickets: one-trip (2€ from a vending machine in the vehicles or 1.5€ prepaid at tobacconists and from vending machines in the underground stations), daily (24-hour, 5€), 72 hour (12€, includes some sight-seeing benefits), weekly (12.5€), 8-day (24€, valid for 8 days within a year).
The taxi fare in Vienna is 1.5€ per kilometer with a starting cost of 2€.

To the workshop hotel from the airport:

Take the airport bus to Suedbahnhof (please click here for the schedule and prices). The hotel Prinz Eugen is located just opposite the South Railway Station (Suedbahnhof)
A taxi to the workshop hotel from the airport (costs app. 40€).

To the workshop hotel from Nord Bahnhof:

U1 underground direction Reumannplatz until Suedtirolerplatz station, and then walk about 5 min. to the hotel Prinz Eugen (Wiedner Guertel 14)

To the workshop hotel from West Bahnhof:

Take tram No. 18 for several stops to Sudtirolerplatz, and then walk about 5 min. the hotel Prinz Eugen (Wiedner Guertel 14). Alternatively, take U3 underground direction Erdberg, get off at Stephansplatz station, then take the U1 underground direction Reumannplatz until Suedtirolerplatz station.
